1st Annual AIGA Louisville Design Week 2015
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

1st Annual AIGA Louisville Design Week 2015

Louisville, KY June 1 2015

The first annual AIGA Louisville Design Week is June 8–12, 2015. The event brings together designers and other creative professionals for five days of events, workshops and speakers dedicated to celebrating and inspiring great design. Design Week is hosted by AIGA Louisville chapter, and also features events by local participating organizations throughout the week.

We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker is New York-based designer Stefan Sagmeister. An inspirational and intriguing designer, he is recognized for his unorthodox, provocative designs that challenge the status quo and question the designer’s role in society. Sagmeister co-founded the design firm Sagmeister & Walsh Inc. with Jessica Walsh in New York City and has designed album covers for Lou Reed, OK Go, The Rolling Stones, David Byrne and Aerosmith. In addition to designing branding, graphics, packaging, and authoring three books, Sagmeister teaches in the graduate department of the School of Visual Arts in New York. He is leading a Lunch & Learn followed by an evening keynote event on Thursday, June 11.

“We really want to showcase the importance of design in all of its many forms,” commented Zach Stewart, AIGA Louisville president “To do that we are collaborating with some of Louisville’s most creative companies and institutions, as well as hosting international design icon Stefan Sagmeister. If you are engaging our community through design then AIGA Louisville wants to see you at our Design Week.”

The non-profit, all-volunteer-run AIGA Louisville Design Week is an event put on by the design community, for the design community, and is supported by organizations that sponsor Design Week including Power Creative, Bullhorn Creative, VIA Studio, IDSAKY, Humana, Hound Dog Press, UofL Hite Art Institute, CreativeMornings LOU and Sullivan College of Technology and Design.

AIGA Louisville Design Week is open to the public. Certain events require purchased tickets, while other events only require online reservations. Tickets must be purchased separately for each event. Full event descriptions, pricing, and locations can be found at http://aigalou.org/designweek.
